  • He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Having begun his Naval service at the age of 15, he served on Destroyers, three of which were sunk during wartime, USS Reid, USS Aulik, and the USS Brancroft. When the USS Bancroft was sunk Mr. Hasty was in the water three days before being rescued. He was active during the Aleutian Campaign and the Battle of Komandorski where he received a Purple Heart.

    He was an artist, painter, and wood carver and a member of Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville.*
